Christian Counselling Across Australia

What Does Christian Counselling Look Like?

Christian Counselling recognises that faith can be an important source of meaning, hope, comfort, and strength. For clients who desire it, faith can be thoughtfully integrated into the counselling process.

In practice, this may include:

  • Creating space for you to freely discuss your faith and spiritual journey.

  • Exploring how your faith informs your beliefs, values, and decisions.

  • Considering how spiritual practices, such as prayer, Scripture, or involvement in a faith community, may support your wellbeing.

  • Exploring how faith may provide meaning, hope, and perspective in the midst of challenges.

  • Encouraging connection with pastoral or spiritual supports where appropriate and desired.

  • Supporting you to live in a way that is congruent with your faith, values, and goals.

  • Recognising and drawing upon your faith as a source of resilience and strength.

Christian Individual Counselling

Life can be difficult, and at times our faith can become an important source of comfort, meaning, and hope. Christian Individual Counselling provides a space where you can explore both your personal struggles and your faith journey.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, questions of identity and purpose, life transitions, or challenges within your faith, counselling offers an opportunity to explore these experiences in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental environment.

Christian Relationship Counselling

Christian Relationship Counselling provides a space for couples to strengthen their relationship while also considering the role that faith may play within their lives together.

Couples may seek counselling for communication difficulties, conflict, emotional disconnection, rebuilding trust after betrayal, life transitions, sexual intimacy concerns, or simply a desire to deepen their relationship. For couples who desire it, faith can be thoughtfully incorporated into the counselling process, including exploring shared values, commitment, forgiveness, intimacy, and the role of faith within the relationship.

Christian Sex Therapy

For clients seeking support with sexual concerns, I also offer dedicated Christian Sex Therapy. This provides a space to explore sexuality, intimacy, and sexual wellbeing while respecting and incorporating your Christian values and beliefs.

Whether you are navigating low desire, sexual pain, erectile difficulties, pornography concerns, intimacy challenges, sexual shame, or questions about sexuality and faith, Christian Sex Therapy offers a respectful and non-judgemental environment in which these conversations can occur.

You can learn more on my Christian Sex Therapy page.

Respecting Diversity Within Christianity

Recognising the diversity of Christian beliefs, I will never tell you what you should believe or how you should behave as a Christian. Rather, I seek to understand your personal beliefs and values with curiosity, empathy, openness, and respect.

A Christian perspective in counselling is not about receiving a theology lesson. Instead, it involves creating space for conversations about faith and drawing upon your faith as a potential source of strength, meaning, and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be Christian to see you?

No. While I am a Christian and offer counselling from a Christian perspective when requested, I work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, beliefs, and faith traditions.

Will you pray with me in counselling?

For clients who desire it, prayer and other faith practices can be discussed and may be incorporated into counselling where appropriate. Any integration of faith is guided by your preferences, beliefs, and goals for therapy.

Will you tell me what I should believe as a Christian?

No. My role is not to tell you what you should believe or how you should live. Rather, I seek to understand your beliefs and values and support you in living in alignment with them.

Can faith and counselling work together?

For many people, faith is an important part of their identity and worldview. Counselling can provide a space to explore life’s challenges while also considering how faith may support healing, growth, and wellbeing.

I provide online Christian counselling, Christian relationship counselling, and Christian sex therapy to adults across Australia.
