Individual Counselling

Individual Counselling

Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may find yourself struggling with anxiety, stress, grief, low self-worth, past experiences, or navigating changes that feel too heavy to carry alone. Individual counselling offers a space just for you — to slow down, reflect, and explore what matters most. We focus on building insight, strengthening coping strategies, and creating a life that feels more meaningful and authentic.

Common concerns may include:

  • Anxiety, stress, or depression

  • Experiences of trauma

  • Grief

  • Struggles with self-esteem, confidence, or identity

  • Life transitions

  • Feeling “stuck” or uncertain about the future

In our conversations, we may explore:

  • Your thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behaviour

  • The impact of your past on your present

  • Tools to manage stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions

  • Strengths, values, and personal goals

  • Ways to create healthier relationships and greater self-compassion

Individual counselling is a place where you are fully seen and accepted. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth and respect, supporting you to take steps toward growth, healing, and wellbeing.

My approach to Individual Counselling

At the heart of my counselling style, I am person-centred and strengths-based. From this foundation, I adopt an integrated approach to counselling, grounded in a combination of evidence-based therapies and tools to best suit your unique needs and circumstances.

Person-Centred: I place you at the heart of the process, believing you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for self-exploration and growth.

Strengths-Based: I focus on identifying and leveraging your inherent strengths and resources, empowering you to overcome challenges and achieve your goals.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Balances acceptance of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, whilst committing to action that improves and enriches your life.

Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Emphasises building on what is working well and setting realistic, achievable goals.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT): Encourages self-compassion and helps you address self-criticism and shame.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Provides skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and building mindfulness and distress tolerance.

Trauma-Focused ACT (TF-ACT): Integrates ACT principles with a trauma-focused approach, supporting you to process traumatic past experiences while developing resilience and moving towards a more meaningful life.
